To tell you the truth it doesnt cost much at all. If you where local then me as a plumber would do this for a cup of tea on my way home if it wasnt serious. This is a bad period and unless your pipes have burst then its only a matter of boiling the kettle etc. I am a plumber who runs a firm of 10 plumbers www.mrplumberonline.com . I try to charge the cheapest possible price and still make a profit. I find this way customers return and spread the word. If a plumber tries to charge to much for just defrosting the pipes then I suggest you stay away in the future. It depends on where you live at how bad the damage is. Me as a plumber, I would charge by the hour. Because you can not tell until you start fixing. If I were you I would get a bid for replace the water lines throughout the home. By the hour can be costly.
