I have a Tumi bag that has gotten dirty on just a few trips. I emailed Tumi to ask them and here is the response:
To spot clean the exterior surface of a ballistic nylon (non-leather) bag with stains or marks from dirt, grease or other substances we recommend the following:

1) Use a granular detergent as used for clothing
2) Mix detergent with a small amount of water to create a paste.
3) Rub the paste on the stain or mark.
4) Wipe the area with a soft, damp cloth.
5) Hang the bag so as to dry naturally.
6) Use caution when using paste near leather portions of bag. If leather has been soiled, it should be treated with Tumi leather conditioner. This product is available through your local retailer.

To clean the over-all exterior surface of a bag, we recommend the following:

1) Use automobile upholstery spray foam cleaner and saturate the entire surface.
Be sure to keep the leather parts as dry as possible.
2) Allow the cleaner to stand on the surface of the bag for approximately five minutes.
3) Scrub the outside of the bag with a soft brush.
4) Wipe residue with a clean, damp towel; rinse towel frequently.
5) Keep all the pockets and compartments open so as to allow the bag to air dry. We suggest that you hang the bag on a clothesline or shower rail to air dry properly. If you choose to hang the bag outside, be sure to turn the bag inside out to prevent the leather from fading in the sun.

To clean the interior lining of a bag soiled by mold, fungus or pet we recommend the following:

1) Use a non-chlorine bathroom cleaner and saturate the lining. Be sure to keep the leather parts as dry as possible.
2) Allow the cleaner to stand for approximately five minutes.
3) Scrub the lining with a soft brush.
4) Wipe residue with a clean damp towel; rinse the towel frequently.
5) Keep all the pockets and compartments open so as to allow the bag to air dry. We suggest that you hand the bag on a clothesline or shower rail to air dry properly. If you choose to hang the bag outside, be sure to turn the bag inside out to prevent the leather from fading in the sun.
6) If an odor remains after completing this process, we suggest that you hang a moth cake inside the bag. Make sure to close the pockets and compartments for approximately one week.

When using Tumi cleaning products, we recommend the following:

Tumi nylon fabric refresher - This special spot cleaning formula removes dirt and most stains from ballistic and micro fiber nylon fabrics.

Directions for use: Wipe excess dirt from fabric with a clean, dry cloth, bristle brush, or sponge. Gently rub into affected area. After a few seconds, wipe once more with a clean, damp cloth. Air dry.

Tumi leather conditioner - This is a complete leather care product designed to clean, polish and protect most leathers (except suede or napped finishes). The special wax-free lotion was created for Tumi to preserve the rich luster and soft hand of its fine leather luggage, business cases, handbags and accessories.

Directions for use: Shake well. Always test on a small area before treating an entire item. Using a clean soft cloth, smooth conditioner onto leather surface, let dry, then buff gently with a soft dry cloth. For exotic and naked leather apply sparingly, work into the surface, let dry and buff with a soft absorbent cloth. For best results, apply the conditioner to product before its first use. Reapply as needed.

I tried the granular detergent paste, I used Seventh Generation, on my black tumi bag.  And so far it's made things worse, now there are white/pale blotches all over the bag.  Maybe I can keep dousing with water to try to get it out.
