Ideally, one gallon of paint should cover approximately 400 square feet depending on how many coats you apply etc. However, most people wouldn’t expect to get that much coverage per gallon. How efficiently you can use the paint depends on several factors, including the type of paint. Because of this It is advisable to measure the paint by litres per square metre. There are a number of ways in which you can do this, and keep in mind that the amount of coverage will be stated on the can of paint. Therefore you’ll be able to determine the number of litres you’ll need.

Firstly, you should measure the length and width in metres of the area that you want to paint using a tape measure. Once you have done that you should multiply the measurements that you’ve noted to give you the area of the space you want to paint. After you have done that you should pick up the paint can and locate the label that states the expected coverage of the paint measure in square metres. If the paint says that the coverage will take up about 12 square metres, then you can work out how many litres of paint you’ll need. Once you have the coverage amount then you should divide the area measurement by that amount, which will then give you the figure of litres of paint that will be needed to paint the area you’re decorating.

You wouldnt even use one pint as the area is so small.  To give you an idea of how much one meter is stretch out your arm and imagine a square that size.
