Air conditioning.

Wood stove.  Currently in the process of cutting and splitting two 90 foot Ponderosa pines for the firewood.  It wss a whole lot easier when I was younger.

For me, I, along with my family, never use any type of heating device. In the apartment that we live in, it's usually very hot and I had to make my own air conditioner. Yes, homemade! To learn how to make one, click on the following video:

(Thumbnail is somewhat misleading, the guy who made it said he found a fan laying around in his house. I didn't have one, so I bought one off Amazon for $30.)

I can say from experience that the heat in California is unbearable. At least, for me it is. I'm more of the kind of guy that would prefer cold temperature weather, you know? Like rain, snow, etc...but it's still safe to say that the temperature is definitely above the norm here in California.

Fireplace, if you have one. Gas stove, if you have one. Snuggle with your significant other, if you have one. But Fireplace is the best way use to heat your house. Some large size of heater is also a good option.
