Do you guys love to clean? Why? I'm writing an article on all the reasons why we love cleaning and I'm kinda in a dead end already. If you enjoy cleaning (or you don't) please specify why is that.

For me, it's not the cleaning in and of itself that I enjoy. I enjoy the results. I work for Enterprise Rent A Car as a car prep, cleaning the cars. It is always great to see a cigarette smeling car that is filled with ashes and dirt and turning it into a beautiful freshly washed, no dirt, lemonade smelling vehicle. It's like a work of art!

I enjoy cleaning.  When I come home from work, I don't want to be overwhelmed with a dirty house. A clean house is much more relaxing.

I hate to clean, but I like a clean house. My mother-in-law loves to clean. For her it is cathartic. She is a person who obsessively worries, and by focusing on the process of cleaning it allows her to relax.

I know what that feels like. I especially enjoy cleaning after a crappy day at work. It's good to have at least your environment under control.

I am male and I have ADHD.  On a personal level, I can find anything I have filed for reference almost immediately when necessary.

On the other hand, anyone walking into my office at home would find that hard to believe---to say it charitably, I am somewhat "messy."

However, I do clean occasionally, always do my own laundry, and tend to hold myself responsible for loading and unloading the dishwasher for my wife.

[Cleaning the kitchen, however, is a task I leave to my wife---she is gifted (seriously) when it comes to doing that quickly and efficiently and she likes it clean and organized. And of course, sometimes associated with my ADHD or ADD is a higher tolerance (unawareness?) of "messes," so I simply am not a proponent of a spotless house.]

The payoff for me in cleaning is using the physical activity of "cleaning" to center myself.

And at other times, I do it because the cleaning tasks I choose to perform are not too complex and do have a tangible beginning and end, so they give me a real sense of accomplishment for the day.

I think most rational human beings enjoy more the results of the cleaning process than the process itself. Of course there are always some OCDs lurking around :)

To me, I love to clean because I feel accomplished afterwards. I'll usually clean my room or desk area every few months and seeing the after gives such a good feeling, you know that you've made your area more appealing and that you've accomplished something (or at least I do). That or making my bed.... Feels great to fall asleep in a well made bed full of clean sheets and my favorite quilt.
