For me it is about the location more so than the size. I had a house about that size on a nice wooded lot. It was in the foot hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It wasn't an ideal floor plan, but I loved living there.

We moved from there to the suburbs in the midwest. The house was slightly bigger and I loved the floorplan, but I hated living with my neighbors right on top of me, and no nature view. We moved again, this time to Florida and now I am back in the woods and I have my open floor plan. The house is smaller and I have no problem with that. As any realtor will tell, location, location, location!

I personally prefer a smaller home :) because I'm a bit compulsive when it comes to cleaning... And that much space would drive me nuts:/ I just want my home to feel like home and be on the water :) and smell good. My last home was 1299 square feet ( excluding basement cos we don't count them " it was perfect :) the house I'm moving into is much larger ... So I'm kinda scared :) BUT ITS ON THE WATER !!!! BAAA--- AAAM :)

I'm not sure that there is enough space in there. Would this include servant's quarters?

Then, where would I keep the Aston and the Bentley? I can't leave them outside, they'd get wet. Fortunately, servants don't rust. I guess I'd have to leave them outside.

Given the choice, the servants need to fend for themselves.

We had a humongous house when the 4 kids were little but as they began leaving, we started to downsize and now I'm in a small house.

I guess it depends on one's own definition of big, but the Z palace here in Fla is larger still, and we've been happy in it for many years. I think its less the size of the space than how it serves you that's important.

I don't think so.  I live in a 1040 sq. Foot apartment and am very happy with it.  Besides, I'm the one doing the house work and I'd rather not have all that sq. Footage to clean.

More space is always welcomed in my personal opinion. However, more room would also mean more things and when this happens, more cleaning and tidying would need to be put in place in order to ensure the area remains neat at all times and no clutter is formed.
