I have large dogs, so wood floors are easier to clean.

Definitely wood floors. They add to the appearance of your home and can be swept with a broom.

I'll have three pretty soon. Porcelain tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, carpet in the bedrooms and hardwood floors in the living room and hallway ! Tired of the carpet in the living room !

We have carpet and wood floors.  Honestly, the wood floors look nice .. But just aren't "warm and cozy".  We had to get a couple of large area rugs in the dining room and living for "quiet" and comfort.  I really like carpeting .. Some nice berber is what I would prefer over wood.

We have dogs.

When accidents could possibly be a problem, we have wood or tile.

In other areas, I prefer carpet---softer for me.

Carpets all the way for me! But my husband likes hard floors so it becomes a battle of wills! LOL!

I always prefer solid surface floors  Even though I vacuum very well, I never feel like the floors are  completely clean.  When I did have all wood floors I could always see just how clean they were.  Of course, living in an apartment doesn't give me that option any more so I live with it

It depends on what room it is. I like to have carpet in the bedrooms, soft and warm under bare feet, makes the room quieter, too.  But here in Florida, we have tile everywhere, wood is not as common. I do have wood floors in my office and dining room, I think these rooms deserve the ambiance of wood.

They now have tile that looks like wood. I plan to put in on y screened in patio. You get the look of wood without the maintenance.

No doubt. Tile is so easy to clean. They've been pushing these laminates recently, (resin infused particle board). Economical, but just not the same.

We're carpeted except for the kitchen (linoleum) bathroom and laundry (tiles)

Carpet is absolutely essential for anybody who regularly comes home drunk. Ir's hard to be silent on wooden floors when you're staggering all over the place.

I've got wood affect lino, it's not as cold as wood, or as slippery, but once you put heavy furniture on it, it does mark,  but my home is tiny so there isn't much choice in where to place furniture anyway. My lino was more expensive than laminate flooring, everyone bends down to touch it because they cannot believe it isn't wood. I wouldn't have carpet because you cannot keep it as clean, although it is nicer in the winter months, I just put deep pile rugs down and wear cosy slippers, and tip-toe between the bedroom and toilet O_o

Wood floors certainly look nicer when they're nice, but if not taken care of properly, they can be quite dingy.

Here in Florida, a wood floor is much cooler and my place has wood and stone, but no carpet.

Hello
Roy! Since it’s really hot and dusty where I am, I will prefer wooden floors.
Most houses here actually have ceramic tiles all over and these help keep
things cool when the temperatures rocket. However, I believe that wood can also
do the job pretty well and it looks much better.

I think a mixture is nice. In my house we have laminate floors in all rooms except the bathroom (tiles) and on the stairs and landing (carpet). The laminate is easier to clean and looks nicer, but the carpet is also soft and feels nice to walk on. Carpets aren't very good for my allergies though, hence none in the bedrooms/other rooms I spend a lot of time in

Personally...I far prefer wood because I like the look of it, it's easier to clean and it doesn't contribute to household dust problems.  I do like the look of carpeting but it is sooo dirty .. Teaming with bacteria and dirt. I cringe to think what is 'living' in it.
