If you’re looking for the short answer, block pavers are clearly the superior choice if your budget permits. However, if you’re like me and want to know all the considerations before making any decision, here are the pros and cons for each material.

Gravel is obviously the cheaper option, but that low cost doesn’t come without drawbacks. It can damage patio furniture and tends to succumb easily to heavy traffic. Over time, the small pebbles can chip and get stuck in tires.

Gravel is easier to install. Unfortunately, that is offset by the more frequent maintenance required. After a while, you might find that you need to pour more gravel to maintain depth.

On the other hand, monoblock driveways are more durable. There are a range of designs to choose from, elevating your home’s look in a way that gravel simply can’t. They are low maintenance, and if they get damaged, the blocks can easily be replaced. The biggest drawback is the cost, as it is more laborious to install.

If you’re on tight a budget, gravel can be a suitable option that even you can install. But if you’re willing to splurge, I’d say go for monoblock driveways and have professionals such as Baseline Contracts Ltd. do it for you.
