CIf you are talking about a bowling ball paint job for a car, you paint a base coat, let it dry completely. Get some plastic wrap, like Serain wrap, but the packing stuff works better because it is bigger. Paint the second coat one area at a time. Just as much as you can cover with a strip or two of the plastic. It really helps to have a few people working together. About thirty seconds after you paint the second coat, kinda thick and wet, stretch the plastic out and let the static bring it to the paint. don't stretch too tight. Just pull it slightly taut and lay it onto the wet paint. It will go on all wrinkled and not even touching in some spots. Thats what you want. Very random. Let it sit for about thirty more seconds, then slowly pull it off. It will give you the desired bowling ball look. Do some practice pieces on scrap metal. You will be surprised how easy it is, and it looks really cool. Good luck
If your referring to the SWIRL paint look then no you cannot dupe it by airbrushing it it is a technique called swirling. You do it by getting a large plastic container (trash can) fillng it with water adding Borax to it and enamel paints. The paint will float on top of the water and you take a nail or screwdriver and swirl the colors together then dip your bowling ball in the water and VOILA! Here is a great example on youtube with them doing a guitar. If the link doesnt work on here type this in youtube to see it. "Swirling a guitar to look like a steve vai Jem" www.youtube.com
You could use an airbrush
