I have this problem too. I get "connection failed" every time I try to log on. The date / time is automatically set through the internet so I don't think that's the problem. I also tried restarting everything and disabling the firewall but AIM still will not connect.

It can be caused by weak connection, may be you should try to use mobile signal booster? In my case it helped me very much))) Hope could help you, I'll give an example of it, it makes the connection better))

Same thing is happening to me, I tried auto configuring, my date and time did change but I already fixed that but the aim still does not work.

I have this problem too with AOL and I find that if I wait a really good while before trying to connect to my internet provider the connection is ok. My theory is that my anti-virus program AVG starts to do a check immediately I log on and this is causing a conflict.

If you have Free AVG, This does slow your system down. But should not cause a conflict.

I have the paid AVG program. Practically every time I hasten to log on to AOL I cannot connect - yet when I wait a good while there is no problem - hence my theory it is something to do with the virus checker. It doesnt happen if I log out and relog say 15 minutes later.

The answer is... Your date and time are set incorrectly, AIM requires this to be right in order to sign in.
