My dog gets open sores too. I use Neosporin ointment with pain reliever. It helps it heal fast and if there is any pain it helps with it.

You could also use saline solutions. It's clean and will help clean the wound. Doesn't contain any dangerous toxins or medicine that might hurt your baby. Just plain old salt water. It's a life saver!
