Is it cheaper to make your own cement garden sidewalk slabs or to buy them pre-made?

If you have a lot of time and have a strong back, yes it's cheaper to make them yourself but it's a major, messy pain in the butt.

Oh yeah. Put in all of that hard work and find them all cracked the next day when they're cured. That would make me cry.

I made that mistake on a tony project...thankfully, it was small and easy to do over. A walkway...oi vey!

I made my own retaining blocks because the manufacturer discontinued the style. Considering just the cost of the mix, I was making them for 1/2 price. If you figured in labor cost (including making the molds in the first place) I was working for about $1.50 an hour.
