There's a very high chance that these two be connected. For realizing this, you must check some details and follow trails.

1.Check your fuse box

2.Ask neighborhood and see if similar thing happened to them or not (in the case you weren't paying attention at the time)

3.Call the center, the power source providers. See if there's any technical difficulties.

4.If you're using laptop (which you don't as far as i know) however! When powers out, usually the wifi connections  we'll be lost as well.

5.If you using phone. There could be an accident with power sources or a power shock or a technical problem with power which effected the phone towers and that caused your phone's wifi difficulties. (however, if this happens, then you must have difficulties with messages and phone calls as well!) (of course if your wifi source is connected to your home network, then the cause could be very directly)

6.If your network been provided by a dish or modem which is located somewhere outside of the house, it could be any damage to the device regarding an electricity accident. It could be whether a power source went wrong and caused the device get effected. Or the net device got disorders and caused your power sources to get cut and out.

7.Call your net provider to make sure if everything is all right from the source.

8.If you have a modem. I know a trick that restarts those kind of network modems. There's a little spot designed over most of the modems. If you poke and pressurize a needle on it and keep it for few seconds. The mode will be restarted. And it's possible that any error get fade away. However, i highly recommend it! Cause you need to have accuracy for this one!

Check the details and follow the regarded authorities. Hopefully there be no harsh damage to anything and the cause get found and fixed soon. BAM! :)

It's good to know that! don't forget the baby steps ;p!
That actually would work most of the times! i couldn't remember it at the moment to share it with you. sometimes the model's chips get confusion. when it gets enough rest for a while! it gets back to the routine.
also, sometimes the modem lose it's signals and the best is to call the provider and take help from them , they would check it out.if they find it necessary, they will give you instructions to add new signal codecs to the modem from the webpage connected to the source.

If you're not using a surge protector (or even if you are) there's a good chance that the power coming back on line blew the gizzards out of your modem. Phone your ISP and they'll talk you through a few tests.

All in all we have the same problems when our power flickers on and off. Fortunately we have a "whole house" generator. However. Our electronics do not do well with the repeated brown outs. We do the basic stuff which is primarily unplug everything wait for 15 to 30 minutes, assuming the power has returned, and turn everything back on. Usually the cable company has to reset all its srtuff and that includes our internet service.

I have Uverse.  You've probably seen that AT&T commercial where they claim their Uverse service is 99% reliable.  Well, I'm the other 1%.  If it rains, the internet goes out.  If it gets too hot, the internet goes out.  It has gone out becasue there were ants in the green box a 1/2 mile away.  It has gone out because a squirrel ate thru the wires.  It went out once because a bird built a nest somwewhwere in the wires.  Sometimes, I can fix it by rebooting the modem by unplugging it, waiting a minute and plugging it back in.  It takes a bit while it goes thru its little internal routine and then is fine.
