There is really nothing you can eat to keep them from biting you. If you use lemon scented dawn dish soap and warm water to bath your animal it kills them really well. You should do that at least 2 times a week. Also if you put a bowl of water under a night light the flees will be attracted to the  light and drowned then empty the bowl and do it again. Another tip is make sure you vacuum every room everyday and that gets rid of a lot of them also k9 advantics is a really good flee remover. Hope I helped.
