Can I Wire A Swimming Pool Heat Pump Calling For 220v With Only Three Wires?

Thanks for the response. I finally figured this out by pulling the cover off my AC feed for the house. Got the heat pump installed only to find that the compressor was inoperative. An HVAC tech has ordered a replacement compressor being shipped from Florida and will repair the unit under warranty yet this week. Problem solved!!!
