I say go purple! To avoid making the room seem very small, you might consider doing purple 1/3 the way up from the floor on three (or all) walls, and letting the upper portion remain off white. You can put a wide (maybe 10") coordinated wallpaper border where the two colors meet to visually divide them and make it look really cool. They have great borders nowdays-- baseballs and mits, for example, or animals, or cartoon themes or what have you... (if you prefer baseball, the Colorado Rockies comes to mind --one of their colors are purple). I'm sure there are other teams with purple, also, like the Minnesota Vikings football team... He may be a little young yet to appreciate the exact teams, I guess. Anyway, if you think doing all the walls is a bit much and would make the room feel too small, you can always leave the wall with less area plain/off white, and decorate with whatever his bedroom theme is! Good luck. Sounds like fun!! :)

Often it can be desirable to use one wall as a feature wall or two if you do it all purple it may be a little restrictive I suggest you pick an opposing wall to a window so that light from this will not make it seem to dark

Buy 1 Gal. of red paint and one gal. of blue paint. Mix the two gallons together very well. This should yeild a nice grape purple depending on what shades of red and blue you mix. You should have plenty to cover any average size room. Good luck!

Alstradam - here in the states, Home Depot , Loews, Sears, and other paint stores will mix the color for you for no charge! You can choose from an array of colors on a sample paint card, which is very convenient; it saves the messy self-mixing! :)
