Linen is made from flax fibers. Flax grows much like wheat in a field, tall thin stalks with almost no leaves, just long stem with ball of seed on the top. After cutting the ball of seed off (linseed or flax seeds) the stems are dried and then crushed the fibers can then be carded and made into thread used for weaving.
