My weed-eater runs well for about 3 minutes then stops. It has new fresh gas and clean air filter.

Welcome to Blurtit Patsy.
From the picture the machine you have should not be too difficult to fix. You will need a slection of screwdrivers and a few spanners.(wrenches - sorry I'm English so don't speak American). And enough skill to use them. Note where the cord used to fit and look for a way to remove just enough components to get to that, laying the parts out carefully in a line so that reassembly becomes easier. Some fixing screws or nuts may be hidden from view so you will need to look cerafully for them. There will be a pulley wheel through which the cord should be threaded, probably through a hole in one side of the pulley. Wind the chord around, making sure that when you pull the engine will turn the correct way. You may need a new chord from a dealer if you find that the old one has been shortened by breaking near the pulley. Reassemble what you removed carefully.
If you doubt whether you can fix this it should only be a cheap repair in any dealer or even a local car workshop. Hope this helps. If I lived nearer I would come round and help.
