Cypress trees love water. In fact they thrive in low lying areas close to lakes and even in standing water. I have never seen them growing in anyone's yard before, but have seen plenty in the swamps and marshes down here in the south. I have never heard of a miniature cypress before though. Maybe there are different kinds of cypress trees, if so I don't know. But then I've never been to LA.
