Hooking up the hoses to a pool filter pump for an above ground pool is a job that should be undertaken by a qualified electrician, or at the very least he checks and signs off the job as safely and correctly completed as required by law.
Ensuring your pool cleaning functions work correctly it needs an above ground filter to be fitted.
To do this task you will require a screwdriver, flex hose, clamps, patio pavers, a sprit level, a shovel, some sand, a tape measure and water pump pliers.
Now you are ready to start and the first thing to do is measure the area you want to pump and filter then dig the hole. Then, put the patio block in and put the filter and pump on top of the block.
To connect the skimmer you need to clamp the hose at each end and connect one end to the wall at the bottom of the skimmer basket, screwing the clamp tightly. Then hook the other end to the front of the pump and tighten.
After that you connect the return hose by putting clamps on each end of the hose then hooking one end to the return fitting on the pool wall. The other end of the hose needs to be attached to the filter return, which is usually on top of the filter.
Finally put on the filter discharge by hooking a hose to the fitting topside of the pump and connecting the other end to the filter marked ‘pump in’ and then tighten the clamps. Once that is done, fill the filter with sand, prime the pump to fill with water and plug in the pump. That should work straight away by filtering the water. If any water seeps out simply tighten the hose clamps.
