There is a method that you can carry out in order to remove mold from your shower head and all around the shower if necessary. Firstly, you need to understand the effects of mold.

  • What does mold cause?
It is known that mold is more likely to grow in showers and bathrooms, because the substance grows and develops a lot faster in wet and warm areas, which is exactly the condition of a bathroom or shower room. It can affect a person's health, especially if they have a relatively weak immune system.

  • How to get rid of mold: Step 1
Initially you will have to make sure that you have some borax, as you will need this throughout the process. Firstly, you will need to create a paste with the borax, in order to do this you should pour it into a saucer and then spray some water into it in order to make it into a paste. You should keep doing this until the paste is formed.

  • Step 2
Once the paste is ready you should remove it from the saucer by using a damp sponge. When it is on the sponge you will need to apply it to the affected area, which in this case is the shower head in the bathroom. However, it is important that you leave the paste in the section for between 10 to 30 minutes.

  • Step 3
You should then attempt to fill the borax paste into areas of the shower room that have not been directly affected but could be prone to mold. Within the smaller intricate areas of the shower you should use a toothbrush or something similar to fill in the sections that cannot be reached with the sponge. Rinse off the paste after 30 minutes.

You should be able to unscrew the shower head, and soak it in CPR, or bleach or even Kaboom. These are all good cleaning agents, and if you own the home, you might want to just put a new shower head on instead of cleaning the old one. Hope this helps, good luck.

Great answer and true! All those mentioned cleaning products will kill mold. The only thing I would add that if you don't want to unscrew your shower head you can put the cleaning products in a plastic baggie and rubberband it to the shower head and leave it over night. That also WORKS!

It's very difficult to remove mold from silicone.
If none of the suggestions you have received work for you, suggest you remove the old caulk and re-apply a caulk that is mildew resistant. Cost, about $4.00.
