Truffles are available in two colours, black and white. Truffle is a kind of tuber that can be found under the ground, from two to around sixteen inches below.
Although the taste of the black truffle is far stronger and refined that the white, it is still inferior with respect to smell and taste of the white truffle.
White truffles are usually served raw and shredded on top of hot pasta or salad as a garnish. Either black or white truffles are cut into slices to put inside meats or foie grass dishes. Truffles are also used as an ingredient in some cheeses as well.
