To keep the cats owned by my inconsiderate neighbours from digging up my seed beds and using them as a cats toilet, I dust the area with a mixture of garlic and chilli powder. It doesn't seem to do the cats any harm, and they definitely stay away (until the rain washes the powder away).

Great question Brenda! I don't know if this is so much a "tip" as a lazy way to get around having to water plants regularly.

If you attach a simple piping irrigation system to your air conditioner, all that water that usually trickles away down the drain can instead be used to water your plants: A self-watering garden.

The idea is actually something my school used to do, but here's an example I found on YouTube too:

Make fertilizer it helps add neutrients to your plant.

Whenever you see that many of your plant leaves are growing yellow it means that you are over watering it.
