I have never been able to take it out. You have to clean around it, and once you pick out or gently wipe out the kernels, then just scrub the bottom, and  to get rid of the water on the bottom seal it up, and then if you have a rinse you should be able to push that, and it will rinse the water out. Hope this helps, good luck.

I spray the dishwasher once a month with tilex and run it through 2 complete wash and rinse cycles. that helps keep the smells down. I can remove the bottom rack by rolling it all the way out and lifting it off, then wipe out all the accumulated garbage. make sure you clean off the drain so the water can drain out. I always make sure all visible food chunks are rinsed off before I load the dishes in the dishwasher. Also, once a week put a packet of dry koolaid lemonaid mix in the dishwasher and run a rinse cycle.. makes it smell really good... but don't use any other kind of koolaid as it will stain the walls.
