An antique street lamp. They've replaced a lot of them on my street, but this one is still running fine. Every time they replace the bulb in it I hold my breath, hoping they won't get rid of it.

Hi Happy,

My little apartment has a second-story patio where the rising sun comes in...overlooking the small town of Tenino and the ancestral prairies surrounding.

* * *

But I appreciate most that morning sun...

We have a view of the mountains.  We moved to VA from IL where we had no mountains .. So this is a real treat for us.

I bet!! We have some pretty hills, and the Mississippi is nearby. But, much of Illinois is flat.

I used to live near Charlottesville, VA. I loved the mountains! I was only 12 miles from the entrance into Shenandoah Nat'l Park. On the hot days I would grab my pup and go up and hike. It was always 10 degrees cooler up there.

Well as a writer friend of mine said, "It's not the dates that matter, it's the dashes in the middle."

In David Baldacci's "Camel Club" series his leading character is the caretaker of a cemetery (in DC). Great stories, interesting characters.

There are lots of things in our front garden but this little guy is worth mentioning.

Mrs Didge calls him "David" because she says he looks just like me.

Just a garden gnome but I've heard him playing a reel on his fiddle in the small hours when his friends join him for a dance.

My birdfeeders and all the different birds that come to feed. Mostly cardinals and blue jays, but I get a few chickadees as well. I was getting a woodpecker about the same time everyday, but  I haven't seen him for a few days. Skully watches the feeders for squirrels. He has caught a few too. One even bit back.
