I've lived here (out in the country) 3 years. NO CATS IN HOUSE. The smell is coming in from outside. I ran a couple strays off not to long ago. Now that it's starting to warm up outside the smell is coming inside. How do I get rid of the pee smell outside?

Got the same issue. I found that moth balls keep them away but only until they wear out-which is a couple day. It also curbs the smell. Bleach water does work , but I read that using very spicy pepper juice or pepper spray where the cats linger also helps to drive them away-when they go to clean themselves they wont like the taste of the hot sauce and will eventually find a new place to hang out. Havent tried it yet, but hope it works.

I don't know how long you have been here where you live, but it could be in the carpet if you haven't been there for a long time yet. It doesn't usually waft in from the outside like you are telling us about. Talk to your landlord about this. If you really have the home you are in, and have been there for a while, there is a chance that if there is a female cat near you, the male cats will all start to mark territory, and often. You can call animal control and ask them what else you might do other than setting up the traps for them. Hope this helps.

We are building a new house in the country. Our property came with some stray cats. I have been feeding them, probably mistake number 1. I only feed them dry food so that they will still hunt and hopefully kill mice rats and other rodents!

I love these cats but I not the smell when the male sprays the house and around the house! I would like to take them to be neutered but they run as soon as I go outside!

I've been told that I need to trap them. Well There are at least 3 normal cats and the fourth looks like a cat/bobcat mix! Might be easier said than done.

Any suggestions?

Cat pee would not smell up in your house, so the cat is probably spraying which is like marking his territory..that cat must not be fixed...you can get a spray bottle with water and squirt at it, its harmless, n in a couple days the cat should be gone... N yea bleach n water for the current smell

I say the best way to get rid of the smell is to get rid of the cat itself. But you could put some bleach in a bottle and spray it around the house to try to get rid of the smell

Try to encourage the cat to go somewhere else. Find the area the cats going in a block it. The cat will possibly try and find another place to go. I'm not sure how to really 'get rid' of the smell. It never went away from the carpet at our house when my old cat used to go on it. So I'm not sure how you would make it..'goaway'.
