I just installed two of these fans in my house. I found the lights dimmer than my old fans. A guy at my local lighting store told me that in 2008 they changed the code which now currently allows for two 40w bulbs per kit...which limits the light output, obviously. I asked if putting in 60w bulbs would be hazardous. He said he couldn't officially tell me yes but gave me a hint that he thought it'd be fine. We were planning on adding a couple floor lamps, anyway, so I might not bother. Hope this helps.
