First of all, make sure all adjoining areas are protectively covered so that no paint falls on them. Majority of paint sprayers function in a similar manner; one has to pour paint into a bucket or a similar container, and the pump is supposed run through the paint, which gets carried by a hose to a nozzle with which it is to be sprayed. It would be advisable to pour the paint into the bucket by filtering it through a strainer so as to prevent lumps from forming.
