If the host animal is no longer around, they will feed on humans. Not their favorite food, but it works for them.
The best thing for you to do it to vacuum everywhere really good (including furniture crevices) and wash floors with soapy water.
Wash your bedding in hot soapy water and any clothes that have been on or near the floor.
Spray your furniture with rubbing alcohol to kill any fleas that might be on there. Spray Precor 2000 Plus on your carpets, and keep pets and people off the carpets until dry. Wait 24 hours, then vacuum the carpets. Bug bombing does not work. I have researched this already.
Vacuuming "awakens" the eggs so the fleas mature and are then exposed to the chemicals in the Precor ( google Precor 2000 Plus, you can find it for less than $11 - some sites are more expensive than others) BTW - My exterminator said to spray rubbing alcohol on the furniture to kill the fleas, this isn't just an arbitary thing I said to spray. YOU MUST REMOVE THE VACUUM BAG AND PUT IT IN AN AIRTIGHT PLASTIC BAG OUTSIDE YOU HOME! IF YOU DON'T THEY CAN ESCAPE THE VACUUM AND RE-INFEST YOUR HOUSE!
I just vacuumed per my exterminators instructions. I ordered more Precor so I can repeat the process in a week. I'm about to spray down everything with rubbing alcohol now. I'm wearing white socks so I can see if any of the little buggers jump on me. For some reason they are attracted to white.
By the way, my exterminator said that after the treatment you can see them for up to a week. And if you still see them after 2 - 3 weeks, then you should re-treat the house. I'm not waiting that long. When I get my Precor 2000 Plus, I'm retreating my house right away.
Also, I bathed my cat twice in warm soapy water. You must rub the fur the wrong way to loosen them from his fur. I scrub his fur with my nails to make sure I'm really getting in there. You will see the little suckers floating in the water as soapy water kills them. My husband and I just put a flea collar and used Sargents Gold on his fur. You can get a 3 month supply at once. All you do is squirt a strip down his back and it kills the fleas and their eggs.
I hate these things! My legs look like I dipped them in a hornets nest. That's when I knew we had a problem. Good luck to you. I'm hoping this treatment gets rid of these things quickly.
