There is a product called GooGone that you can purchase at most stores which works great for removing sticky substances.
If you have tape/plastic residue stuck to the surface, then use a blow dryer to heat it up and then peel it off or use a scraper that is made of rubber or soft plastic to remove it before using the GooGone.
