There are several ways to get more points for a council house.
Firstly though you may find that if you are not deemed as a priority you won't get anywhere with being housed at all due to the high number of people who are looking for housing, they have to decide who is more needy.
If you work then you can pretty much forget it I'm afraid.
Ways to get points
- any health problems - depression, bad back, pregnant etc
- children - if you have any children then you may get more points
- local connection - if you have family in the area you are looking to be housed and/or have lived there for (I think 3 years) then you will get more points
- Homeless - if you ave been made unintentionally homeless than you will be priority, you will get lots of points here
- social factors - if you are ill and have support from  people in the area you are looking to be housed get them to write letters stating how they support you. It could be emotional support, it could be help with shopping - anything you think may help get them to write down.
- letters of support from doctors is also good as it can back up anything you may have stated.
