It can be installed vertically or horizontally depending on room size and ceiling height. Make sure your beveled edges are tight together. Use the least amount of butt joints (non beveled joints) as possible. If your room has a concrete floor, use 1/2"-3/4" shims to keep the wallboard off of the concrete. It draws moisture sometimes. Remove the shims after wallboard is screwed.
It's a process that must be done correctly, using glue and screws.
