I am getting ready to paint mine. I painted one of the panels on the side a few years ago because it was where I keep my garbage can and it got grease spots on it. I haven't had any problems with the paint pealing off. I used a basic primer and paint that I got at Wal-Mart. My concerns are the areas where the veneer is pealing off but I am planning on shaving off the loose peices close with sharp knife and maybe applying a thin layer of spackle to make it smooth before painting if it needs it.
