One show I watched said to put the hangers above the window trim and have the curtains rod hangers wide enough apart so when the curtains are open you can not only see the trim but can tie them off to create a framing around the window with the curtain fabric.makes sense you don't want to cover up the wood trim you paid so much money for and you need the window to look what's that big word aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
