How Do You Back Cut Crown Molding?

You follow the profile of the molding at a 45 degree angle with a coping saw..

You could make it easy on yourself and go to the Home Depot and purchase some corner cornices. They are inexpensive and illuminate the need to cut the 45 degree angle, which can be a problem if your walls aren't totally square. (Most are not).
The cornices look nice too. They add a little class to the crown molding.
They come in inside, (for corners), and outside for trimming around door openings.
They are very easy to install. Just nail them in place with a couple of finishing nails. So much easier.
