I live in the US, but have gotten burnt on food off my ceramic cook stove by wetting it down a bit with water and using a razor scraper at a 45 degree angle to scrape it off. Just made sure that the blade was nice and sharp.
I now have a glass top cook stove and the company that sold it to me advised to use a razor scraper with it too. They even provided one with the stove.
We also have a product here that can be purchased in most supermarkets called; GooGone. It is a really good product for removing sticky and greasy stuff.
