Are the clothes inside the tub arranged so as not to send the tub off balance?
If so, then maybe the washer itself is not sitting level on the floor. Try moving it just a little to see if that will stop the banging. If not, check to see if the washer is level by wiggling it. If there is even a slight wobble, turn it on its' side and adjust the feet, if possible.
The only other thing I can think of is that there may be too many clothes in the tub, which could cause it to become off balance. As you probably already know, overloading a washer can cause excess wear and tear on the components, such as the belt and the motor.
Good luck to you.
