Using a putty knife, you might be able to pry up the top cover if you can locate the left and right front clips. With the top cover lifted, you can see the two switch mechanisms causing the lockdown. These can be flipped a bit forward to open the lid. On the other hand, if you have the kind with a front right side detergent dispenser, pull it clean out. There's a little lever to make the removal easy. Once out, look inside for a green or red wire. Pull it and the lid should pop open.
The real question is, how do you fix the problem causing the lid to lock. Hmmm. Call a repairman.
