It has often been joked that living away from home is not a struggle because of homesickness but because you have to do your own laundry! Its much easier than you think- just follow these elementary steps and you will be fine.

Laundering your own underwear is not very difficult. Just follow the following simple guidelines and you'll do just fine. First sort out all your soiled clothes in to three main piles- namely whites, colours and underwear, towels and socks. Now load the underwear pile in to the machine's washer. Check your detergent's cover to see how much will be necessary depending on the load. Now select the cycle- which says delicates. You must select cold water. Remember that warm water for whites and cold water is best for colours. After the cycle is complete it is better to air dry your underwear since spin drying them will probably cause them to shrink.

I often wash it by machine, but sometimes I wash it by hand as well, it depends on the situation.

I wash underwear in hot water with about a cup of vinegar (for an extra large load). This is just something that has been passed down from way back! But the first answer explains it all.
