If you have somehow gotten candle wax on an article of clothing and are having trouble removing it, there are a number of solutions that you can use to get your wardrobe looking good again. There are over the counter cleaning products you can buy that will do the job and a number of home remedies to solve this problem.

One home remedy that has been used for years is to put a cloth over the stain, and then iron it at a temperature between lukewarm and hot. The iron will help to melt the wax and the cloth will help to absorb it. A substitute for a cloth used in this process by many people who have reported success using this method is masking tape. Like the cloth, masking tape does a good job of absorbing the wax once it is heated under an iron. If you use either of this methods, if not all of the wax is removed on the first try, get a fresh cloth or a fresh piece of masking tape and repeat the process again until the wax is completely removed from the clothing.

One of the products you can buy over the counter to help get wax out of clothing is Shout! This pre-wash should be used after you have scraped off as much wax as you can out of the article of clothing. Spray the spot with Shout and wait one minute before machine washing the article of clothing by itself with a detergent. Examine the clothing once the wash cycle is through. If any wax remains, repeat the process. By the 2nd wash, any wax that remained will be gone and you'll be ready to dry the clothing and wear it.

All is not lost when wax is spilled on clothing, use these simple methods to get the wax out.

You can use this technique to remove candle wax stains from any kind of fabric. You will need an iron or a hairdryer, plenty of paper preferably paper bag as they work the best to absorb the wax, but you can also use newspaper or paper towels. First, use a butter knife or something to scrap off as much dried wax as you can and then run the vacuum over it. Place a paper bag or 2-3 paper towels on the stain. Run the iron over it on low or use then hair dryer directly over the paper. You will notice the paper getting darker as the heat melts the wax and the paper absorbs it. After the wax is all gone, you are done. If you notice some colour stains that the candle left, apply some cleanser and scrub and there your wax stains are all gone.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I spilt candle wax all down the sleeve of my favorite velour top at a wedding this past weekend. I tried the ice technique, but couldn't get it to work. I just knew my top was ruined. Then I checked the internet and read your posting a whalah! It came out completely. I can't thank you enough. Have a wonderful wax free day! Ha!

One way that you can get wax off clothes and things is to put a brown bag over the material, and iron over the top of it, this helps to melt the wax which you can remove easier in that way.

Use an old towel that you can throw away and an iron. Put the towel on the wax and run the iron over it until it is melted into the towel. Works for candle wax in carpets.
