You do not say how severe the imperfections are and I'm guessing that you don't want to hire someone to spray texture on your walls.
If this is the case, and the imperfections aren't too bad, then you can pick up a texture roller from a local supply store, then mix joint compound in with some paint to thicken it to almost a creamy pudding texture, then roll it on the walls.
This will give it a bit of texture and will hide small flaws on the surface of the walls.
