If the wall has not been painted in 10-15 years. It may take 2 to 3 coats. The first two will be soaked up into the wall in a matter of a few hours leaving some streaks. The third coat should do it. However, you can use kilz once then use whenever color of paint you want, kilz cost a bit but in the long run saves you time and money.
