Is the table top solid wood or just plywood or wood veneered! If it's real solid wood, go to Lowes/Home Depot et.al. And purchase Homer Formby's Liquid refinisher. Simply apply a liberal amount and remove. Lightly sand either by hand or with an orbital sander (fine grit sand paper) then stain or apply a tinted varnish or paint. To make sure that the top matches the legs you might want to refinish them as well; then either stain them as you did the top, or paint/varnish/white wash them a complimentary color.
