I use a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution either in a spray bottle or in my carpet cleaner.  When using carpet cleaner, I rise with the 50/50 solution, another step with cleaner, and lastly another rinse with water and the cheap clothes /fabric refresher from the Dollar Tree.  Works on all kind of animal urine in carpet.

You can also add one to two cups of white vinegar to your washer to clean other items.

Brush vinegar into the carpet with a very hard bristle brush let it dry vacuum...brush baking soda into the same spot let set vacuum...repeat....I don't know how fully it works but thats how I have washed my carpets since my puppy was little and we can't smell it anymore (and couldn't after I cleaned it )

I have found it almost impossible to get that smell out of my carpet. You could try shampooing it or if that don't work call a professional carpet cleaner.

I won't swear this will work, but vinegar can be used as a deoderizing method.

Use a fairly large container as this will foam.

Try

1 cup White Vinegar

1 cup Baking Soda

1 or 2 cups of water.

Mix well. Apply with a brush and pat dry.

I have been out of work for 10 months and for a while was making liquid fabric softener with this method. Sounds weird but it makes a great deoderizer and doesn't smell like vinegar. If you have a spare spray bottle, this might be a good application method and you could store the excess there for later use. The baking soda settles quickly so it needs to be sloshed around well before using after storing. It builds up pressure as a result of this so be careful it doesn't splash into your eye.
