Borax is very effective when it comes to handling fleas in the house especially the carpet and furniture. It is not even toxic or harmful for human beings, so you can be sure that the house will clean up of fleas and you won't have to face any side affects.

The true answer is somewhat complex. Boron (the element in Borax) can be harmful to humans if swallowed or breathed in large quantities, but so can everything else. If you are careful, there is no need to worry (it is certainly safer than most pesticides).

If you don't have pets or babies, just sprinkle a fine film of Borax all over the house and leave for a few days. You may have to repeat in a couple weeks when new pupae hatch (the pupa is the cacoon stage of the flea). Wear a dust mask while sprinkling dust, and most definitely wear a dust mask when vacuuming it up. If you have pets, treat the pets separately with a spot-on flea-control product from the vet at the same time you treat the house, and remove the pets to some other location (put them outside if it is warm). Pets will walk in the Borax or roll in it and get it in their fur, and then lick it into their bodies. If you have a baby, keep the baby in a playpen during this time. If you have young kids who scrounge around on the floor, send them to a relative or be very clear to them that they must play on their beds. Please note that fleas can reproduce in beds, so the linens must be washed. Also, before sprinkling the Borax, clean. And sprinkle the Borax in any place where the pets may have slept.

Yes it does. If you are a dog owner, you know the greatness of products like Program and Comfortis. Borax works just like those two medications, except for your home. If you kill the flea before they can reproduce, you open the loop. Remember, NEVER use borax on your pet. Also, wash and vacuum and clean everywhere, as part of environmental control of a flea infestation. One more thing; make sure to treat your pet, and keep it off borax-treated areas.

It DOES work - Boric acid kills fleas larvae, but is not as effective at killing the adults - so you kill the larvae and the adults die off naturally with age and there are no larvae to replace them - so you get flea control...

It killed adult fleas not the eggs.

Yes. Borax kills fleas and insects by desiccating their bodies. "Desiccate" means "dry out." They get so dehydrated that their bodies become like desert mummies. It does the same to flea eggs.

BORAX DOES NOT KILL FLEAS!!!  My husband and I have been fighting a battle with the fleas and we decided while we were waiting to be rid of them that we would do some experimenting...I put a flea in a baggie with borax and he lived days and days swimming in it...Dry borax, wet borax...no difference...It doesn't work!!  We have found that the thing that works better is getting flea traps!! Buy them, put them in every affected room...Kill the suckers before they can lay their eggs.. Also...just in case..get someone to spray your house with IGR...This will not work alone though.
